4pc. "Wheat Penny" Mahogany Box Corners - featuring real U. S. Coins
This is a set of 4 surface-mount box/panel corners, custom laser-engraved and cut from 1/8" solid genuine mahogany hardwood panels. Into each one is set a genuine U. S. "Wheat Penny" copper one-cent coin, a classic piece of vintage US coinage that was minted from 1909 to 1958.
These pennies saw the U. S. through World War I, the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, the Roosevelt New Deal years, and World War II. These are real, circulated coins that show their age and the wear of being passed through uncounted thousands of hands over the decades. They are living pieces of American History, and now they have a new life as a beautiful, decorative feature on your next special cigar box guitar or other woodworking project.
Dates on the coins are not visible, since only the back (wheat) side is displayed. These coins are presented in these pieces for their decorative value, not for their numismatic/collectible value. Each coin was minted by the U. S. Mint from solid copper.
Please note: We do not overly polish or buff the coins that we mount into these pieces, prefering to leave them in their natural state of coloration and patina from years of circulation. If you prefer a shinier finish, you can always use some extra-fine steel wool to buff them up a bit.
