- Clear Acrylic Cigar Box Guitar Fretboard - A new way to customize your CBG!
Designed by the mad scientists of the Gitty Laboratories, Jason Munoz and Ben "Gitty" Baker (and based on an idea from Shane Speal), these acrylic fretboards bring endless possibilities for customizing your Cigar Box Guitar! Swap underlaying designs in and out to fit the season, your mood, or specific gigs - your creativity is the only limiter!
Laser-engraved with fret markings for a 25-inch scale, they were designed for use on Cigar Box Guitars with the typical 1 1/2" wide neck. Just but the top edge up against the nut and use the ten (10) small flat-head screws (included) to screw it down. This piece is 1/8" thick clear acrylic (peel off the blue film to expose the clear plastic), and measures 1 7/16" wide by 16 7/8" long. Be gentle and do not bend these pieces too much, or they will break.
If you keep the action on your CBG low enough, you can even press the strings right down to the acrylic surface and play notes without a slide. This is in the tradition of the fretless Cumberland banjos that have been a part of Appalachian music for many years.
