The "White Mountain Walkin' Stick" - Diatonic 3-string Cigar Box Guitar/Dulcimer

Appalachian dulcimers gained popularity in rural America because of how easy they are to play - the "diatonic" fretting style removes the sharps and flats, leaving just the "Do Re Mi" scale for quickly and easily picking out tunes. This new diatonic Cigar Box Guitar/Dulcimer takes the dulcimer concept and puts it into standard cigar box guitar form, for a great easy-to-play combo!

We named this build the White Mountain Walking Stick in honor of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, which C. B. Gitty calls home. As some of the northernmost members of the Appalachian Mountain chain, the tradition of the Appalachian Dulcimer lives on here in New England.

Fully fretted to a 23-inch scale, this 3-string acoustic/electric cigar box guitar is strung with a higher-pitched string set we refer to as "Folk/Country G" - GDG - in much the same way that dulcimers often are. Hand-crafted by Dan "Deke" Caldwell in the C. B. Gitty workshop, the body of this guitar is made out of a beautiful Oliva Melanio V box, a brand known for high-quality cigars (and boxes!).
