The Hobo Fiddle is the sort of instrument you might see leaning up against a post, along side the "road through yesterday." Ben "Gitty" Baker has created these unique instruments to evoke the sort of tramp art cigar box guitar an actual hobo might have built for himself while riding the rails. They are built from should-have-been's and used-to-be's, steeped in legend and hobo lore.
Ben Gitty says: "Sometimes, there are stories that just need to exist. For me, that story is about makeshift musical instruments being built by hoboes. I created my Hobo fiddles to try to fill that historical gap. I build every one of them myself, by hand, and each one is one-of-a-kind. In doing so, I hope to honor the memory of the hard-working, hard-traveling hoboes of the past."
