Dear Gitty,

In the beginning of June I did a week long day-camp at our school. The project for the week was building cigar box guitars.  We had 18 kids, from age 7 to 12, and they each made their own guitar. They loved it!

I downloaded some great directions from your website, ordered a couple 12 packs of your strings, and went to town.  (One of the cigar box orders I did was from your eBay store - the square "Don Rafael" boxes)

What really impressed me was that when we were finally ready to string them I had to do very little set up to get them to play.  The older kids have woodshop regularly during the school year, so they did some great work. I think that the easy set up was due to a combination of the clear directions from your site, and their careful work.

I used tuning pins instead of tuning machines, mainly because we built 18 guitars. I just had to be careful drilling the holes for those. A drill press would've come in handy. We used end pins at the bottom, and they fashioned their bridge out of a dowel.

Finally, after that busy week I might have time to make a guitar of my own.

Thanks for your help!

Brad Kampf
