These Tabak Cigar Boxes Make Great Double-Neck Instruments

There's something special about the big, boomy Tabak Especial Toro cigar boxes ($9.99).  Not only are they sturdy wooden boxes, but they have such a large face, that I was inspired to turn a bunch of them into double neck cigar box guitars.

The process was just as easy as making a conventional neck--through cigar box guitar.  The only change was that I notched and installed two parallel necks (each with 3-strings) instead of one.  I even installed a piezo disc harness ($13.99) on the underside of the lid, between the bridges, which allowed both necks to sing out at once.

When I made these, I stayed conservative with the strings and opted to stick with identical GDG Low "LMM" acoustic strings ($4.99) on each neck. However, any variety of tunings...and even number of strings can be chosen when making a double neck.  Just use your imagination.
