Description

Choose from three pre-made sets of bass strings for conventional 4-string bass instruments. Available in "standard" bass tuning (E, A, D & G), in three different gauges. These sets are for full-scale (35-inch scale length) bass instruments. All of our bass strings are premium nickel-wound over a steel core, have 37.5-inch usable wound length, and 0.25-inch brass ball ends.

Choose from these sets:

  • Light: .095 (E), .080 (A), .060 (D), .040 (G)
  • Medium: .105 (E), .085 (A), .070 (D), .050 (G)
  • Heavy: .120 (E), .100 (A), .080 (D), .060 (G)

About string choice: if buying these strings for a homemade bass instrument, consider the strength of your neck. Generally, if you have not installed a truss rod, you will want to go with lighter gauge strings or perhaps medium gauge. For a conventional bass guitar that has a steel truss rod, medium to heavy strings may be preferred. Larger strings have to be tuned to higher tensions to reach the same note: so a .120 low E string will be a lot tighter (higher tension) when tuned to pitch than a .095 string would be.
