Jumbo Nickel-Silver Fret Wire (6 ft)
Great for new instrument fret-work, repair work, Cigar Box Guitars, etc!
This same amount of fret wire would cost you $21.61 shipped if you tried to order it direct from the supplier Stewart-MacDonald!
This is a nice set of 6 feet of "JUMBO" fret wire in handy 8-inch lengths*. Six feet is more than enough for a standard guitar or bass, and you could probably fret two smaller instruments with this much fret wire, if you are careful. This fret wire is designated as "JUMBO" due to the wide crown width, highest crown height, and deepest "tang" depth (see measurements below). This is premium fret wire from Stewart-MacDonald (#150), and it's the largest fretwire they sell. With Stewart-MacDonald, you know it's quality!
Can be used on all sorts of acoustic and electric guitars, basses, cigar box guitars and various other fretted stringed instruments, anything that requires the widest and highest of fretwires. The 8-inch lengths allow you to easily cut the exact lengths you need. Having fretwire this high opens up a lot of options for the savvy player - you can bend a note just by pressing the string down harder!
I also include a sheet of fretting "do's and don'ts" to help the first-time fretter get started, at no extra charge! This sheet contains a lot of useful how-to, things to avoid, and advice. If you want a more in-depth guide, check out my separate fretting guide listing!
Technical Specs: Crown Width: .110" (2.79mm) Crown Height: .053" (1.32mm) Tang Depth: .074" (1.88mm)
A slot width of .023" is recommended for this fret wire, but somewhat wider may work if you use glue to set the frets in. Be sure to measure the width, height and tang depth/width of your current frets before buying, to make sure this set will fit your intended usage!
* Please note that tolerance on fret wire piece length is +/- 1/8" (.125").
