Description

We are proud to offer this new design of easy-to-use hardtail bridges designed by Ben "Gitty" Baker specifically for cigar box guitars. These are single-piece, "fixed saddle" style bridges, which can be easily mounted to the top of your cigar box guitar using included screws. They are cut from high-quality sheet metal here in the USA and then carefully shaped here in the C. B. Gitty workshop. Ball-end strings are run through the back lip then up and over the saddles, with the strings fitting into pre-cut notches spaced perfectly for 3-string instruments. You can use a small diamond files to enlarge the notches if desired.

As mentioned above, Ben Gitty designed these specifically for cigar box guitars. they are exactly 1.5 inches wide, which means that they can be mounted directly to a standard CBG neck for "neck on top" builds with no unsightly overhang. They can also be mounted directly to the top of a cigar box, but you should provide some sort of internal bracing as well to stand up to the string tension.

Note that this style of bridge is based on the classic hard-tail style, and is intended more for use with electric guitar pickups (such as our GittyBuckers) rather than acoustic instruments, though they still work OK on acoustics as well. These are NON-ADJUSTABLE bridges - the saddle portion is pre-bent to a standard height (see specs below) and cannot be easily adjusted, so your cigar box guitar build will need to be pre-planned carefully to make sure the strings end up at the desired height... though use of a file or bench grinder could allow the saddle piece to be lowered, and use of shims could raise it. If you do decide to try to alter your bridge, BE CAREFUL and follow all safety recommendations of the tools you will be using. The brass version is much easier to grind/file than the stainless steel version.
